Here are some tips to selecting and sitting in your ergonomic desk chair to keep you relatively pain and injury free. Now and again being immobile can be harder on you than actually being active. Steady and continuous strain on muscles can lead to their decline or misalignment. Bad seating positions can restrict circulation to your legs and feet. Ideally, we'd all sit in bean bag chairs and have nap time, but that just isn't the situation. Desk chairs come in all shapes and sizes. There's no doubt that some are better than others when it relates to ergonomic design. Even if you can't afford a fancy ergonomically designed chair, keep in mind these basic rules.

Seat - a good seat should allow your weight to sit evenly balanced across it. You ought to have a minimum of an extra inch on each side of your hips and the rear of your knees should clear the edge of the chair by an inch or two when your back is flush with the chair back.

Back - Your chair should support both your lower and upper back and you ought to be able to tilt back slightly when seated at your desk.

Height - Your seat height should allow your thighs to be parallel to the ground and your feet to rest flat on the ground. It should also allow your arms to rest comfortably on the desk in front of you.

Stability - A good desk chair will have five points on its base. Your chair can be padded for comfort, but be sure that it is firm enough to support your body.
